8mm / Super 8 Reel Transfer

Older 3-inch 8mm and Super 8 reels often contain priceless early home movies.

  • Does 8mm have sound?

    Most 8mm film does not have sound, as the format was originally designed for silent home movies. While a sound version—often called Super 8 with magnetic sound—was introduced later, it was very rare and not widely used by home filmmakers. Because of this, the vast majority of 8mm and Super 8 films that people bring in today are silent. 


    Note: We are unable to do Super 8 with magnetic sound at this time.
